     Alder Creek Ranch

Central Oregon

The lake at Alder Creek Ranch gives you the opportunity to land trophy size trout in a beautiful setting in one of Oregon's most famous vacation destination areas.   A steady supply of icy cold well water keeps the fish biting all season long!!!

Alder Creek Ranch is located in the high desert area of Central Oregon near Sisters at 3100 feet.  Water depth runs from 4-6 feet just off the bank to a maximum of 16 feet in the deepest area of the lake. Alder Creek Lake fishes best from ice-out through freeze-up.  A special feature of the lake is that when the weather warms up the lake can be cooled by well water that comes in at 48 degrees at 4800 gallons per minute, giving anglers good flyfishing opportunities even in the warmest weather.

The lake is 13 acres in a crescent shape with a park-like setting on the hillside with picnic tables, mowed lawn and a long wooden dock.  Fishing is limited to six fishermen at one time and reservations are a must!!  All fishing is catch and release with barbless hooks only and a 5 wt or heavier rod is required.  Call us now to reserve your day on this easily accessible, private lake.

Note: The fish pictures here are from our 2007 Denny Rickards lake clinic held in May.

Yamsi Ranch on the Upper Williamson River in Southern Oregon

This historical 5000 acre ranch is located above Chiloquin, Oregon and offers 10 miles of private access to the world-famous Williamson River.  The Williamson River is fed by five springs on the property. Coming out of the sandy hillsides at 45 CFS, the river has the same flow all year and is not Bottomartpg1affected by spring runoff and late season high temperatures.  The water is crystal clear and a consistent 42 degrees year round.  Trophy Trout up to 30” long live and thrive in these chilly waters. The fish are native rainbow trout, descendants of the ancients, and eastern brook trout planted in the 30’s, now as wild as the wild horses who occasionally roam across our range.Pg3Streamside

Also located on the property is the 300 acre Hyde Lake which is stocked with Rainbows, Kamloops and Donaldson steelhead averaging 15-28" in length.  The Hydes have lived on the property for five generations.  Accommodations are in a 7 bedroom ranch house built in 1928 or a two story cabin great for larger groups.  Meals and riverside BBQ's are casual and relaxed and arranged around prime fishing hours.  They are a wildlife sanctuary so bird watching and nature hikes are a great past time for non-fishing companions.  If you'd like a guide or want some fly fishing instruction while at Yamsi Ranch, John is available at $225.00  per day.

Cost is $300.00 per night per person with a minimum stay of 3 nightsYamsi Ranch's season starts at the end of April and lasts until the first of November. Fall duck and fishing combos available in October. Popular times to fish the ranch are in June for the Black Drake hatch, July for the Hexagenia, Hoppers in September and October Caddis.  Some of the best fishing is found in the fall, both September and October are excellent months to fish at Yamsi Ranch.  Throughout the year you can find prolific hatches of mayflies, caddis and Terrestrials.

Clark Ranch/Madras Lakes

                LITTLE WILLOW

Little Willow Lake is nestled on the border between the Crooked River Grasslands Natural Areas and the foothills of the Ochoco Mountains about 12 miles north of Madras.  The lake sites amongst a backdrop of painted hills and distant snowy peaks making it a lovely setting for a day of fly fishing.  The lake is approximately 45 acres in size.

Little Willow Lake offers excellent catch and release fishing for rainbow trout.  The lake is best fished from a float tube or pontoon boat and is open in the spring and early summer until the water gets too warm, then opens again in the fall.  This lake has yielded fish to 18 lbs, but the average is 16-22".  All fishing is catch and release using barbless hooks.  We suggest you bring at least a 6 wt rod since these fish are big and you don't want to unnecessarily wear them out as this can contribute to fish mortality.

Access to the lake is available starting at 7:00 a.m.  The daily rate is $180.00 per person for 10 hours with a minimum of 2 anglers.
