Nestucca River:  (Current River Level & Forecast)  (WeatherForecast)     River flow: 3.84ft.    Spring Chinook and summer steelhead are available from Farmer Creek down to Cloverdale.    Spring Chinook numbers are pretty decent from Three Rivers down to Cloverdale and action has been fair.  Pacific City in the tidewater section has picked up a bit for fly anglers.  Water levels are low and clear so early morning before the sun gets on the water will be the ticket.

If your swinging flies for summer steelhead you can fish either a straight floating line or and intermediate sink-tip system with 6-8# leaders.  Fishing summers on the Nestucca is an early morning or just before dark fishery.  These fish are hot!!.

Summer steelhead patterns:   #2 Youngers Summer Run, #4 Nighthawk, #4-6 Undertaker, #3 Purple Matuka, #3 Steelhead Mojo, #4-6 Green Butt Skunk, #4 Red Ant.

Mid Coast Lakes:   Trout fishing in the lakes has been very good lately and will remain very productive over the next few weeks. All water bodies on the stocking schedule have been stocked recently with 8 to 12-inch trout with many areas having a good number of 2 pound trophy trout. This is a great time of year to get out and catch some rainbow trout.  Olalla Reservoir near Toledo was recently stocked with adult summer steelhead from the Siletz River.

Crooked River:  River level is 220cfs.  Nymphing has been the best tactic as of late.  Scud patterns in sizes 12-16, BH Pheasant Tails in sizes 16-18.  Look for more caddis activity as the weather warms.

Metolius River :     Fly fishing has been fair to good.  Now would be a good time to fish golden stone nymphs with a mayfly dropper.   July is Golden Stone hatch time and well worth making a trip up to the Metolius.
