LAMSON REELS
All Lamson reels (all models and all sizes) now employ a fully stainless steel clutch that is impervious to corrosion. All Lamson premium reels are offered in one fantastic finish only -- a proprietary combination of alloy selection, mechanical preparation and conversion coating being dubbed "Hard Alox". The term "Hard Alox" is taken from the anodizing process itself, wherein the aluminum surface is converted to aluminum oxide. By increasing the coating thickness and reducing porosity, the Hard Alox coating is much more durable than even the bulletproof Guide finish of seasons past.
LAMSON
LITESPEED REEL
The new Lamson Litespeed Hard Alox™ is a true large arbor reel with the same fully-sealed drag system that is used in the Waterworks ULA. Like the ULA, the Litespeed Alox is machined in the U.S. from barstock aluminum. By utilizing a more traditional structural design and foregoing the use of titanium we are able to offer a very fine, high performance large arbor reel at a value you would expect from Lamson. Lighter without sacrificing strength, the new Lightspeed Hard Alox will come in a close second to a corresponding Force reel in terms of retrieve rate and weight, and each shares our patented maintenance-free super smooth conical drag.

The Velocity is a large-arbor workhorse with a conventional frame. For 2007, porting on the spool has been changed to increase ventilation and reduce weight. Equipped with a fully machined one-piece spool and our sealed conical drag, Velocity Hard Alox extends the Lamson tradition of value to a reel which represents a winning combination of leading edge technology and maintenance-free performance at a modest price.

The Konic is a lightweight, true large arbor reel. It’s strong, good looking, well put-together and frugal.
When designing the Konic, Lamson started with one given: to incorporate the same fully sealed conical drag system and stainless steel roller clutch used in our high-end reels. The drag system in Konic uses the same fully machined parts, made of the same materials, and to the same specifications, as the drag used in the $400+ Waterworks reels or any of their other high-end reels. This is the principal benefit of the Konic versus competitive reels.
In order to deliver this expensive drag in a low-priced reel Lamson is die casting the frame and spool. But this is no low-end die casting. This is Pressure Casting with molten ALDC12 aluminum alloy injected at 1,080 kgs pressure to ensure consistent, smooth and strong parts with lower porosity. Once cast, the frame and spool are “skim cut” on CNC machines, a process in which a thin surface layer is cut away to provide a finish comparable to fully-machined reel.
A 100% solid polyurethane coating provides a finish that is very resistant to gouging and abrasion. Contrast this to the weaker electrostatic paints that competitive reels use.
